FINDING OUR FACILITY

Sky Harbor is located off St. Rd. 52 in
Hudson, Florida. We are a short distance
west of the Suncoast Parkway.
If you have found wildlife in peril, call our
center for directions to our center or
directions to a licensed rehabber closer
to your area.

Problems reaching help?

Reaching a rehabber is important when you
have found injured wildlife. Even MORE
important when you have critically injured
wildlife and every second counts!

There are times when we are short handed,
overwhelmed or handling an emergency
and cannot immediately answer your call.
Remember, we may be caring for many
animals in need. Please be kind and leave a
message that your call is urgent,…try an
alternative number or email, if available.

We will get back to you!! If there is a rehab
center closer than Sky Harbor, we will refer
you there. It is important that sick injured
wildlife not be stressed by long vehicle
transports. It is imperative to transport to the
NEAREST rehabber for the sake of the
animal. Immediate care at the closest center
is essential & is the choice
any responsible rehabber would suggest!.

Here at our facility, most rescuers bring the
injured wildlife right to us. Many times we
are delighted to see someone at our gate
who has been so wonderful to gently
capture, contain & SAFELY deliver the
animal!

Many wildlife directories may contain old,
obsolete numbers, calling FWC for a list of
updated, operational rehabbers can help!
Remember, rehabbers are human, we get
tired and have lives too, always be fair and
courteous!

ALL FLORIDA’S WILDLIFE IS
PROTECTED,LET’S KEEP THEM
PROTECTED!

SKY HARBOR CARE & TRIAGE
CENTER

A fully equipped building for admitting and
examining wildlife, caring, feeding and maintaining
in various types and size caging. A small deck with
seating, leads to a full glass patio door enabling
those who care enough to bring wildlife to our center
to be invited to see that wildlife is being treated and
cared for!
Wildlife is rescued and brought directly to our center
for immediate assessment and treatment by our
staff. A quiet soothing environment is essential to
their well being.
We have a couple of fantastic and generous vets
who are always available should we require xrays or
surgery.

SKY HARBOR IS A TWO ACRE,
LAKEFRONT FACILITY

SKY HARBOR HOSPITAL AND CARE CENTER

Sky Harbor has a special building used only for the care and
treatment of  injured, sick and orphaned wildlife brought to
us.   The care center or hospital is conveniently situated just
outside our personal residence, at the front of the facility
property and allows people who have brought  us rescued
wildlife,  to see and understand a little better, how rehabbers
care for wildlife.

We NEVER bring wildlife into our  personal home for care.
Domestic pets, household noises, cooking odors and
chemical cleaning products can be detrimental to wildlife’s
well being and create stress.

We also have a separate ISOLATION enclosure, with four
large stainless steel cages for those animals that arrive with
contagious illness.  This ISO is located  outside our hospital
and away  from our healthy animals. The stainless steel
cages allow us to sanitize and disinfect after each animal!

The four stainless steel cages were a donation to Sky
Harbor, a few years ago,  from Rick Chaboudy of the
Suncoast Animal League!

THANK YOU RICK AND THE SUNCOAST ANIMAL LEAGUE
FOR THEIR AMAZING WORK!

DID YOU FIND INJURED OR ORPHANED WILDLIFE?

The law states anyone finding an animal, has 24 hours to locate a licensed professional
to take possession of the animal and the animal must be relinquished .
IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO POSSESS WILDLIFE WITHOUT A PERMIT FROM FWC.
IT IS A FELONY TO POSSESS MIGRATORY BIRDS OR THEIR FEATHERS.

Can’t find anyone who will take it?  Call your local animal emergency clinic, they usually
have a list of permitted rehabbers available.  Calling Fla. Fish and Wildlife  will also give
you access to a list of rehabbers in your area.  All rehabbers MUST BE  permitted through
FWC and display the wildlife permit.  Always ask to see a permit, rehabbers carry them
with them.

You can also contact us, here at Sky Harbor, we have a network of responsible,
experienced, rehabbers IN YOUR AREA  who can help you.  We can also assist you with
the correct temporary care of the animal until you can get it to a rehabber, in case you are
lucky enough to end up with wildlife in the middle of the night, or are in an area where
rehabbers are scarce or not available.

DID YOU SEE SOMEONE ABUSE OR INJURE AN ANIMAL?

CALL FWC 24 HOUR ABUSE HOTLINE  1-888-404-3922

IT IS A*** FELONY*** TO INTENTIONALLY HARM OR KILL WILDLIFE!!

RESPONSIBLE REHABBERS ALWAYS USE RAPTOR GLOVES TO
HANDLE HAWKS, OWLS AND OTHER BIRDS OF PREY……THESE
BIRDS GRAB THEIR PREY WITH AMAZING SPEED, THEIR
TALONS CAN INFLICT SERIOUS DAMAGE….AND THEY DO BITE!
LARGE PREDATOR BIRDS SHOULD ALWAYS BE HELD BY THE
LEGS, HIGH ON THE THIGH, TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE
WINGS. NEVER GRASP OR HOLD THESE BIRDS BY THE WINGS
AS DAMAGE TO THE FEATHERS AND DELICATE WING BONES
COULD OCCUR!!

NEVER TRY TO PICK UP A BIRD OF PREY BAREHANDED. THESE
BIRDS STRESS EASILY AND REQUIRE CAREFUL HANDLING
AND QUIET.
